I Got Sahil Bloom's Attention And Response With This Cold Email
Using a compelling subject line, a warm welcome to India, and a brief introduction highlighting my credibility, I personalized this cold email, which led to a reply from Sahil.
Love the idea of absorbing information on the go? I've got you covered with an audio version of this newsletter. You'll find it just below. Enjoy!
Hey folks! Welcome back to another installment of "Kabir Cold Emails Millionaires," where I dissect the emails I send to millionaires.
This round, I targeted Sahil Bloom. If you're not familiar, Sahil is an entrepreneurial titan and investor with a mind that churns out words of wisdom like a gold mine.
Today, I'm pulling back the curtain on how I penned a cold email to Sahil that not only got his eyeballs but also a reply from him. And believe it or not, it all sprouted from a video about a bodybuilder. Sounds bonkers, right?
Strap in, let's jump into it!
I just shot off an email with the subject line "Ronnie Coleman." Why Ronnie Coleman? Here's the thing - Sahil had just posted a video about Ronnie.
Ronnie, for those who don’t know, is a legendary bodybuilder who inspired Sahil in his early days. I knew a mention of Ronnie in my subject line would catch Sahil's attention. Because let's face it, seeing a bodybuilder's name in an inbox full of tech emails is like finding a dumbbell in a library— it's going to make you stop and take a second look.
The sole purpose of a subject line? To get the email opened. To pique the recipient's curiosity enough that they can't resist clicking. And I'm willing to bet my last dollar that "Ronnie Coleman" did just that for Sahil.
Next up, the hook: "You have the chance to create positive ripples and inspire millions. Welcome to India, Sahil.”
This line echoes the powerful message in Ronnie's video about pursuing your purpose and making a positive impact. It's a nod to the drive and determination that both Ronnie and Sahil share. Plus, everyone enjoys a warm welcome, right? It's the digital equivalent of rolling out the red carpet.
Now, a bit about me: "My name is Kabir Krishn, I live in Noida, a city part of NCR. I run a small personal branding agency for US founders (Sam Parr's fitness coach is a client). Before that, I was selling software and services to the US."
Dropping Sam Parr’s name here was key. It's like subtly saying, "Hey, I'm in the circle of cool kids!" Mentioning that his fitness coach is a client also boosts my credibility.
Then, I showed I’m a genuine follower: "I admire your work and your 'cold wisdom.'" As for the 'Cold Wisdom' part, that was about resonating on a deeper level. Sahil's YouTube series is a gem and quoting it is like giving a nod to all the fans out there. The goal was to come across as a genuine follower, not just another faceless email in his inbox. By showing that I value his content, I aimed to establish a stronger connection and hopefully, initiate a meaningful conversation.
Next, I served the main dish: "Millions like me in India are finding accessible mentors through YouTube and other platforms. I'd like to discuss with you how you can create an audience here and inspire millions." This is where I connected his mission with a potential new audience—India! It was my way of saying, "Join the Bollywood of mentorship!"
But I didn't stop there. I added a little surprise at the end: "PS- Here's a 33 second video of how to get ice anywhere in 10 minutes." This may sound random, but in his Cold Wisdom video, Sahil mentioned he’d be traveling to India and was unsure how to maintain his cold plunge routine.
So, I went the extra mile, recorded a proactive video to help him order ice and get it anywhere in India. Because, you know, ice is life!
And for the grand finale: "PPS- I'll be attending your New Delhi event tomorrow." This adds a hint of personal touch to the whole thing and increases the chances of an in-person rendezvous.
And guess what? Sahil replied the next day!
Just like that! The door swings open, and you're in the middle of a conversation.
That, my friends, is the power of a strategically written cold email.
Hope you found this useful, and here's to all your future cold emails hitting the right chord! And let's not forget - always keep it chill, both in the context of the email and in real life.
Cheers!
